The Georgetown Green Gates

A lovely place set back in time

Pros: We enjoyed the entire week at Green Gates. The location was great and the building made us feel we were living during the colonial era Penang. The food in the area was great and the hotel is conveniently close to all the sites we wanted to visit in Georgetown. Ms Fazeela was an exceptional host and helped us with anything we needed. Looking forward to our next visit. The complimentary visit to the museum across the street is worth a visit as well.

Cons: If I had to find something to winge about, maybe the Saturday night drinkers down the street, but it didn't last long and hey ...its part of the character of Georgetown.

Perfect room in a top location!

Pros: Great location in the the old town. Walking distance to Little India and Chulia Street. Beautiful old building, with modern well equipped rooms. Arif was also a legend, very friendly, welcoming and helpful! Would recommend 100%

Would stay again

Pros: A beautiful property. Very comfortable & spacious.

Cons: Like a lot of properties in the region the bathroom gets very wet after using the shower.

Great place , great hosts and worth the money.

Pros: The location was amazing, the room was clean and cozy, the shared kitchen had all the necessary utensils and appliances to make a quick meal. The decor was so esthetically pleasing. The space had space for drying laundry, everything perfect for a short vacation stay. Totally worth it!

Cons: The room did not have much natural light because it is housed in the heritage part of the city with connected buildings.

Great location, heritage house stay, surrounded by history and culture

Pros: Beautifully conserved heritage property. Lovely shared living room, courtyard and well equipped kitchen. Very central for exploring George Town and very quiet at night. Entry to the Eastern & Orient Museum opposite is free to guests and well worth a visit.

Cons: The shower room is a little small for the size of the room but perfectly functional. We were made aware of this and it didn’t bother us at all.

Beautiful home away from home.

Pros: A perfect stay in the heart of Georgetown. Spacious and tasteful decorated room in a beautiful house. Very comfortable and provides feeling of home away from home with everything you need. Highly recommended and would love to come back.

Comfortable, spacious, great facilities and excellent location

Pros: The Georgetown Green Gates was a fantastic stay, the room was large, comfortable and had amenities like shower gel, toothbrushes, combs and slippers. The room also had a fan and air conditioning which was perfect for days I didn’t want to use both. The location was excellent - few minutes walk from great cafes and restaurants and a short walk (less than 10 minutes) from Armenian street.

Cons: I didn’t any complaints - it was a fantastic stay

A hidden gem that is worth every penny

Pros: A huge room, one of the biggest I’ve stayed in, in a gated building where all the rooms surrounded a courtyard and there was a communal living room, dining room and kitchen. It felt safe, private and homely. There was a washing machine and iron and ironing board downstairs for any guest to use which was a great bonus. Smart tv that worked with no issues to allow connection to Netflix and other apps. Really friendly and helpful host over WhatsApp. Right round the corner from Love Lane and other great spots in the area. Maybe the best accommodation we’ve had over the last couple of months.

Pros: Amazing guesthouse with wonderful architecture. Very spacious room and perfectly located in the city center. Nice shared kitchen and common area available as well :-)
