Pros: I had a great stay here. The local breakfast was delicious, warm naan and fresh fruit, simple but good. The location is excellent: peaceful and quiet, yet within walking distance of fun bars and restaurants. The house is full of character and history, with a charming traditional atmosphere. The interior is beautifully done and the bathtub was absolutely amazing. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. Itβs also a perfect place to sit, relax, have breakfast or read a book. I would definitely stay here again
Cons: One thing to be aware of: there were quite a few mosquitoes during my stay. The staff seemed to be addressing it, so this may already have improved. Bringing DEET is definitely recommended ( and in general a good idea, as itβs surprisingly hard to find on Penang.)

Pros: You le Yuen is a beautiful place & full of character. Our bathroom was very nice. The hostess is very helpful & gives advice on George Town & what to see/ eat. There is a nice sitting area. It was very quiet when we were there, out of season.
Cons: The breakfast is rather limited. You have to carry your bag up a flight of stairs so it might not be great for those with mobility issues.

Cool period charm in the heart of Georgetown.
Pros: Fantastic location just minutes from all the action. Lots of bars and restaurants nearby but located at the end of Love Lane so was quiet at night. the apartment is situated in a period building and is quirky and very interesting. It feels like an oasis at the end of the day. They also offer tours of the city with a local guide.
Cons: The reception/staff leave around 7pm each evening so the house is then shut. You need to let yourself in and out which does feel a bit weird. Just pointing this out for reference, it's not really any problem.

A pearl of a place, worth every penny!!
Pros: A beautiful building that has been converted into a very special bed & breakfast accommodation!! Ideally located for walking around and exploring the old centre of Georgetown. Jane is a fabulous host and the room I stayed in had ample space, everything you might need for a comfortable (luxurious even) stay, including a small fridge, a ceiling fan, a/c and water pressure to die for!

Pros: Very helpful staff Jane and Ryan. Simple breakfast. Only 4 rooms so not noisy and not a chain hotel.
Cons: Because it is a heritage home, some spaces are dusty. But it was expected. On our last night, the whole house smelled like something was burnt. My husband had to go down and check. A wooden house would go up in flames in an instant. Our room had no windows, so nowhere to escape. And no fire escape.
