Very good location staff and facilities for the price

Pros: Staff were super helpful. Great central location. Facilities very good for the price. Shared toilet and showers were clean and plentiful. Decent kitchen facilities, and pleasant communal relaxation areas. Good security, multiple digital entry doors. Activities organised by staff are a bonus, eg night market excursion, and a pub crawl, including historic bar, cocktail bar live music bar and nightclub. Thank you host and guide Mauro. Overall a great experience, and good value for money

Cons: Onĺy minor inconvenience and reason for 9 rating instead of 10 was hearing people in other room, and particularly above, even when talking quietly though earplugs are provided. Shouldnt be a problem for experienced hostelers though, and other benefits more than make up for this

Pros: Great location in the middle of Chinatown within waking distance to the ferry terminal, buses and surrounded by plenty of restaurants and shops. Interesting build as they renovated/joined 5 apartments to create a maze of rooms. The rooms are basic but decent sized. However, only the outer rooms have windows. Plenty of shared showers and toilets, large common areas, and kitchenettes. Three in one shampoo/body/hand soap, hairdryers available. Towels included. Rooms have air-conditioning, lamp, clothes rack, and hangers. Free activities are available every night. Laundry services within walking distance.

Cons: Toilets are cleaned, but wish that more care would be taken to clean walls, ceilings, and bed headboards. They're quite dirty with suspicious stains, dust, and mould. Would be nice if the room had a table or shelf to place items on.

Great place for short stay

Pros: Location is great: It's close to the top attractions of Penang. Staffs are friendly and supportive.

Cons: One of the room is quite small and the ventilation is not so good.

Pros: The location was brilliant. So central to everything. Bed was very comfortable and the place was kept very clean. We stayed 5 nights and house keeping was also offered. The room was bigger than we expected and is bigger than what it shows in the photos. The hosts organised evening activities between all group of hostels which was nice to make it more social also. Best value for money in the area from what I can gather. Would definitely book again. Really enjoyed our stay

Cons: Everything can be heard from the surrounding rooms. Walls are so thin. Ear plugs are provided, notices on the wall about quiet times all around the hostel. Not the hostel's fault some people can't show common decency to other people staying. Not sure what else the hostel can do, but it did slightly impact our stay

Pros: The check-in was smooth, the bed was comfortable, the facilities worked mostly well and without trouble. The wifi was great. They provide earplugs to shut off noise from other guests and nearby mosque. The staff is very attentive and quick to help with anything. The place also has some initiatives to promote socialization between the guests.

Cons: The room didn't have a window and the design on the place could be a bit more welcoming. The pillows weren't the best and the room maybe could use an overhead light and some shelves.

Pros: Great value for the price! The staff is very friendly and responsive. Genuinely some of the best service I've experienced throughout all of my travels. Great location if you'd like to explore the historical areas of the town. Lots of good restaurants and attractions nearby

Cons: The walls are quite thin, so it can be noisy but thankfully they provide earplugs. The bathroom amenities aren't that convenient

Comfortable stay

Pros: The comfort of the bed and the location of the hotel

Cons: Noisy in the morning but good thing hotel provided ear plug

Pros: When I met the architect behind the developing vision, I realised Aayu Seck Chuan is run by good people who have to abide by conservation of historical building rules. There’s lots of spaces to relax in. It’s super quiet.

Cons: The property is undergoing renovations near the accommodation area. So it’s a work in progress. Occasionally smells from resin or paint waft near entrance on ground floor. I couldn’t smell in my room or upstairs I was given an upgrade in room perhaps because of these smells.

Pros: Great location and a very responsive host throughout the stay.

Pros: The place was just so nice and clean, though room walls are very thin, except a little bit of noise, everything is very nice. They provide you with so many complimentary things.
