Pros: The location is great, close to everything you want to see in Georgetown. The staff were really friendly and helpful. They have a fridge and a water dispenser which is great.

Cons: The wall was constantly peeling off. The beds are extremely hard.

Pros: The location is very convenient, with most attractions within walking distance. The neighborhood is not far from the main road, yet it remains quiet. The staff are very willing to assist and respond promptly with warmth.

Cons: Our room had a private bathroom, but it was located across a hallway. During the heavy rainstorm, there was a slight leak from the ceiling wall. Unfortunately, most restaurants and shops were closed during the Spring Festival holiday.

Pros: Amazing location, ok price and very responsive staff.

Cons: I stayed in two rooms - one (1st floor) was super nice, another one (ground floor) was not so great (many mouldy spots, no place to even put the backpack on - I put it against the wall and it got all dirty from the wall paint / plast as it was falling off everywhere). Bedsheets were made of polyester so not breathable at all in the very hot nights.

Pros: The location was absolutely perfect, only minutes to walk to tourist spots and food is easily found everywhere.

Fantastic experience staying in a historic building in the heart of all the old town!

Pros: Amazing location in such a historic building in the centre of the old town. I’ve always been fascinated by the shophouse architecture and so to stay in one was such a wonderful experience! The room was spotless and communication with the team was easy, almost instant replies. It’s more of a guesthouse setup than a hotel (entry was through a beautiful shop which added to the experience!) and the decor is rustic which I think added to the experience too (think old plaster, polished concrete floors). I also loved that it was electronic coded entry so no key to worry about. Stayed on the ground floor and it had a little semi-outdoor area with what seemed like the original shutters and doors - I loved opening them up in the morning and seeing the street outside. Such a unique experience and amazing memory to have for our visit to Penang!

Cons: The bathroom would benefit from a real door instead of a plastic accordion door as it wasn’t very private. Also, the main negative I have is if you book the ground floor room (I think it was room 1) be aware it seems the main pipework for the entire building seems to run through the room. It is very loud and was happening constantly through the night (not sure why others guests seemed to be constantly showering through the night or something) but every time a sink tap ran, toilet flushed or shower ran you would here it clearly running through the pipes in the room. Obviously it is a historic building so it’s part of the experience and earplugs were provided. With the earplugs I didn’t notice the noise at all and slept SO well so as long as you’re fine sleeping with earplugs you’ll be fine!

Pros: Melayu Villa by Aayu @ Armenian St was a great place to stay. The host was very attentive and always responded quickly whenever I needed anything. The room I stayed in was spacious, clean, and comfortable. The location is excellent—very close to some of the best spots in George Town, all within walking distance. If I come back to George Town, I would definitely stay here again.

Easy and comfortable

Pros: Really well received ,friendly ,warm and welcoming staff. Relaxed atmosphere. Fridge , hot n cold water, microwave. Silent huge bedrooms , unpretentious and respectful of the heritage. Really good taste. Everything worked perfectly , beds comfortable very silent room .

Pros: Great location, friendly staff, easy access with code, good AC. I loved the big room of the deluxe. Super chilled place.

Cons: Use ear plugs provided, as the surrounds can be pretty noisy early morning. Which, I imagine would be for most places in the historical town.
