Loved my stay here

Pros: I really enjoyed my stay here. Staff were friendly, polite and professional. At check-in they knew not to say aloud my room number. It's amazing how many hotels loudly announce the room number of solo female travellers so I was impressed they didn't - a sign of well-trained staff. The bed and pillows were very comfortable and I slept brilliantly. The bathroom was spacious. The location was great for walking everywhere but it was lovely and quiet. Lots of great places to eat nearby. The breakfast buffet was vast and had something for everyone. The dal was delicious. Nice little basket of snacks in the room. Everything was spotlessly clean. The furnishings might not be the most modern but they were very comfortable I enjoyed seeing the cruise ships dock and watching them leave from my window. The pool area was nice but I can imagine it being difficult to get a lounger if the hotel had been busier. Great value.

Cons: Lots of reviews mention refurbishment being needed. This is true in some parts but the hotel is well-maintained and it's excellent value and very comfortable for the price paid.

Love the attic suite rooms!

Pros: The attic suite rooms are great with enormous balconies. This is my second stay here; I liked it so much the first time I came back!

Pros: Location ...a bit of a run-around / off street entrance Central location though Breakfast - good spread, value for money

Cons: A bit of maintenance / shower faucet control flew off... loose.

A beautiful hotel near the ferry port

Pros: Pool was excellent, gym was good, the hotel is a beautiful nod to colonial times, including the smartly dressed concierge who were always ready to open the door for you. All the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, breakfast was vast. Would def recommend a stay here

Cons: There was no bar and no obvious access to stairs (had to use the lift)

Pros: Very atmospheric, almost like stepping into a Merchant Ivory production. The whole town gives that vibe. Slightly dated, lovely helpful employees, excellent breakfast.
