Fantastic. We would love to go back.

Pros: Central location and very friendly staff. Lovely big rooms and beds. Food at Muntri Mews cafe lovely and staffed over ba Meares to help. It’s a quiet location in the centre of Georgetown - in central of things but away from the noise. Love the old charm of a historic building.

Cons: The toilets face the bed in the room which took some getting used too and have a glass door. Once overcome ok.

We spent a very interesting and enjoyable 5 days.

Pros: The truly authentic heritage feel. The rooms were full of genuine furniture pieces from the past, they had incredibly high ceilings and apart from the modern bathrooms with hot water, the fans, kettles and air conditioners, there was nothing modern about them at all. it was a wonderful experience. 4 large bottles of water were supplied daily, the staff were so helpful and friendly, the breakfasts were great and my friend and I had a wonderful time.

Cons: Very little; maybe a larger selection of dishes for dinner that included more vegetables could be offered.

Pros: The staff are simply amazing; showing true Malaysian hospitality and all are very good problem solvers. Thank you Linda for your help with the (mistaken) parking ticket. Thank you Ayu for your calm & cheerful smile no matter how many balls you were juggling in the air on a busy Thursday. Rooms are much larger than average in George Town. Muntri Street is in the heart of all the food fun. We walked to Chowrasta for tau fuh fah and kopi in the morning. I will be certainly be back P.S. TOP TIP Do take a trishaw ride around the UNESCO Zone. Great value at 80rm an hour (& a tip if you feel generous). Trishaws are at the Cititel end of Muntri. It's most cool-ish about 9am or after 4pm.

Pros: The service is impeccable. I'd recommend staying here to anyone! Food is awesome at the cafe too. Love the service managers on duty and they were super attentive to the smallest details. The inconvenience we experienced was nothing in comparison to how special they made us feel. Thanks ladies!

Cons: Heater didn't work, electricity happened to trip on the night we were there, though for not too long.

A wonderful, authentic stay that felt like coming home in the heart of George Town

Pros: Muntri Mews truly feels like staying in a family home rather than a hotel. The refurbishment has been done with great care and fully respects the historical character of the property, which gives the whole place real charm and authenticity. The staff are exceptional, genuinely kind and they make you feel completely at home from the moment you arrive. The location is perfect, right in the heart of George Town, making it easy to explore everything on foot. Excellent value for money as well. And honestly, why would you choose one of those monstrous skyscraper hotels when you can stay at Muntri Mews and enjoy the real atmosphere of George Town? Highly recommended.

Charming boutique hotel in the UNESCO heart of GeorgeTown

Pros: Charming boutique hotel. Easy to walk most places in UNESCO zone . Had lunch at the cafe; the laksa is phenomenally tasty. Will be back!

Beautiful and unique hotel with old world charm but clean and comfortable. Good air conditioning.

Pros: The decor of the room, practicality, size and cleanliness. Beds were very large and comfortable. Housekeeping was spot on.

Cons: Some noise at times but totally manageable.

Wonderful family stay at Muntri Mews

Pros: We loved our stay at Muntri Mews: the location is perfect (in the middle of the old town, walking distance from everything, but on a quiet street) and the unique rooms design really gave us a sense of being immersed in Penang's history. We booked the Terrace Suite for our family of four and were graciously upgraded to a Loft Suite. We really enjoyed the extra space (2 bathrooms + 2 living rooms) and will definitely book the Loft Suite on our next trip.

Cons: The walls are very thin, light sleepers will need earplugs (ex: neighbouring room slamming doors, nearby outdoor bar playing loud music...). The rooms barely get any day light and while the room has good lightning, the bedside table lights were not powerful enough to read. All of this is to be expected in a heritage building and we would be happy to come again on our next visit.

An authentic and beautifully designed hotel that feels deeply connected to Georgetown’s history

Pros: I really loved the authentic décor and the way the hotel blends seamlessly with Georgetown’s history.

Cons: The only small area for improvement was the limited natural light and view from my room (room 4).

Great Heritage Hotel in the heart of Penang

Pros: The property was really good; the bed was comfortable, toilets were clean and the room had all the necessary amenities and was well decorated. And its different from usual hotels being a heritage property. The location of the hotel is superb as well. And their cafe has one of the best food in Penang.

Cons: The walls are a bit thin and noises from the outside could be heard.
