Macalister Terraces Hotel

Beautiful hotel in the middle of town.

Pros: Friendly, welcoming staff. Clean room. Good location for walking. Nice vibe.

Cons: Room did not have a window or natural light. Room had poor noise insulation. Visited during Chinese New Year celebrations. Despite not having a window, was kept awake into the early hours on all 3 nights with fireworks going off (I should have maybe checked the dates!). Then woke up early with staff or guests talking loudly in the atrium. Recommend bringing foam earplugs.

Pros: The location is very convenient, and the staff are friendly and helpful. Special thanks to Sai, and Sago for their excellent service.

Cons: There are no plates, cutlery, or a microwave in the room. Additionally, there is constant noise near the room during the night and early in the morning.

Clean and nicely decorated room on beautiful street

Pros: Nice building and room close to the city center. The room was also nicely decorated and spacious. Kind hosts, gave us a lot of good information about what to see in Penang.

Cons: Maybe a room was a bit dark because it was on ground floor. But not a major issue.

Loved our stay in George Town

Pros: Loved the staff and the cleanliness of the hotel. Honestly looked better in real life than the pictures which is always a lovely surprise. Room had very good lighting and very comfy beds

Cons: Only thing that wasn’t a problem for me but something to be aware of was the room I was in did not have a window. Worked out for me because I got the best sleep of my life thanks to the dark and when I was awake I wasn’t at the hotel but I know some people might want a heads up

Pros: Very clean and nice room. Great location to explore the city and for streetfod.

A perfect hotel for a relaxing stay in George Town.

Pros: A beautifully restored building with classy and tasteful furnishings. Large and very comfortable rooms, especially the bed. Kettle and fridge in the room. There’s a little conservatory on the first floor with a fresh water dispenser where you can relax or eat food brought in. It’s in a location just away from the hustle and bustle but walking distance to all the main sights. Street food, shops and little supermarket just minutes away. Lisa and all the staff were so friendly and helpful.

Liza was a great host and gave sound and great recommendations. A very dedicated staff and absolutely a delight to have
