Pros: Small boutique hotel with a lot of character. Really friendly staff helping us with local recommendations. Location was great with a lot of amazing food options around. Highly recommended.

Cons: It is an old / traditional building with some limitations that might not appeal to everyone.

Best way to experience old world charm & cuisine in Penang

Pros: Absolutely gorgeous, traditional styling and with everything you could want for a comfortable stay. Great bed, great aircon. Right in the heart of the old town. Staff were exceptional.

A friendly welcome and a great place to stay.

Pros: The location was down a quiet street despite being very central. We were warmly greeted by Ruby with water and lots of information about local food options and best time to visit various sights. Nice little seating area at the front to relax. Despite being in a heritage building, it had all the facilities we needed and was spotlessly clean. Bathroom was unusual and very nice. The breakfast choice was limited compared to large hotels (juice / fruit / cereal / eggs / toast / hot drink), but it was all delicious and made to order and it was nice to be waited on for a change! It turns out I don't need to eat cake for breakfast! If you stay here, you will remember it long after you have forgotten other modern hotels you have visited. It felt like good value based on the location.

Cons: It was not a problem for us, but the upstairs rooms are accessed by steep wooden stairs! (due to the nature of the property) So be warned if this will be a problem for you.

Charming and cozy place with a unique atmosphere

Pros: The interior is truly unique with the patio in the backyard and the former shop aesthetics. Ruby was very friendly and helpful. Coffee Atelier offers a small but very fine continental breakfast. Everything was great, we will for sure return once in Penang again.

Cons: Nothing!

Loved it!

Pros: We had a wonderful stay at Coffee Atelier. Ruby and her sister Judy gave us a warm welcome. We loved the big suite. So cozy and stylish. It’s a beautiful, clean, authentic building. It’s centrally located in Chinatown, near Little India. We loved reading a book on the front porch. Definitely recommend!

Pros: What can we say about this place. Amazing staff and fantastic rooms. Large and spacious bedroom and bathroom. Really comfortable beds and good breakfast. Ruby the front of house manager was exceptional and could not do enough for us both and was really great at recommending places to visit. If you are staying in an upstairs room I would say stairs are steep and narrow. If you have no mobility issues then it is completely fine and no issue but be aware that if you do then this could be an issue.

Cons: Nothing everything was exceptional

Fantastic Hotel

Pros: It was a great opportunity to stay in this historic building. Our accommodation was spacious. We particularly enjoyed the courtyard bathroom. It was lovely to have seating at the back and front. The hotel was spotless and well appointed. Breakfast was great. All the staff were friendly and helpful. We were given restaurant recommendations by the manager and all were very good. The hotel is in an excellent location but grabs are easy to get if you want to go further.

Cons: Nothing.

Perfection

Pros: The building was beautiful and we loved relaxing in the private and secluded court yard garden. If we werent out and about we were there reading, chatting and enjoying a drink. The antique furniture was stunning and we haf everything we needed. Our rooms were cleaned everyday while we were out and we were able to start each morning with a delicious breakfast. The staff were all amazing and we miss ot already.

Cons: Nothing at all. Even with torrential rain the stay was superb and we loved every minute. Total paradise.
